Meet Our Team

Dr. Skyler Jennings-Cook, MSSHP, DC
Social Media Manager
Originally from the wide-open plains of West Texas, Skyler’s passion for connecting with and supporting communities has shaped both her education and career. She earned her degree from the University of Texas at Austin before completing her Doctorate and Master’s degrees at Parker University in Dallas.
Now working as a prenatal and pediatric chiropractor, Skyler blends her expertise in holistic health with a love for communication and design. She understands how important it is for families to feel seen, supported, and informed, and she uses social media as a tool to extend that mission. Expecting her first baby in October, she brings not only professional insight but also a personal connection to the motherhood journey.
At Rooted Birth Initiative, Skyler’s role as Social Media Manager allows her to amplify the organization’s voice, share meaningful stories, and create engaging content that connects families with the resources, care, and community they deserve. She’s passionate about building an online presence that feels warm, accessible, and empowering.

Dr. Alexis Gabel, DC
Director of Education
Originally from Keithville, Louisiana, just south of Shreveport, Dr. Alexis grew up with two big dreams—to become a doctor and to be a mother. After graduating from C.E. Byrd High School, where she played softball and cheered, she went on to study at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before earning her Doctorate from Parker University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Alexis has had the privilege of serving families across both Louisiana and Texas. Her passion lies in empowering women and expecting mothers with knowledge and resources to help them experience healthier, more fulfilling lives. As
Rooted Birth Initiative’s Director of Education, she brings that same dedication to creating supportive, accessible learning opportunities for families and birth professionals alike.
Beyond her professional work, Dr. Alexis is deeply committed to service, actively volunteering her time to support families in need through community outreach and nonprofit efforts.

Dr. Bridget Turney, MS-SSR, DC
Head of Fundraising
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Bridget still loves going back home to get her fix of toasted ravioli and thin crust pizza. From a young age, she knew she wanted to help others and grow her passion for movement and holistic wellness. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from the University of Louisville before returning to St. Louis to complete her Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Master of Science in Sports Science and Rehabilitation at Logan University.
Dr. Bridget has always had a heart for empowering others—especially children. With a background in coaching youth sports, she has a natural ability to connect with kids on their level and inspire them with tools for lifelong success. Today, that same passion fuels her work in both healthcare and community service, where she is dedicated to creating spaces that are safe, supportive, and empowering for all.
As Rooted Birth Initiative’s Fundraising Coordinator, Dr. Bridget is excited to channel her energy and vision into building strong connections and resources that allow families and birth professionals to thrive.
Outside of her work, you can find her exploring Austin’s hidden gems, playing sand volleyball or pickleball, or in a pilates, yoga, or boxing class. Driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact, Dr. Bridget brings both enthusiasm and heart to everything she does.
